Bowen works by causing a shift in the functioning of the nervous system. This means that, during a treatment, the body quickly moves from the sympathetic mode -'fight or flight' - to parasympathetic - 'rest and repair'. People often report a feeling of deep calm and relaxation and may even fall asleep. 

Entering the rest and repair mode means that the body can begin to realign itself to where it remembers its natural state to be. Through a system of carefully worked out and precisely placed light moves over points on the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves, signals are sent through to the nervous system, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms to rebalance and affect profound and often long lasting change.
